A Salute to Iraq Veterans with Action

A Salute to Iraq Veterans with Action

TRANSCRIPT
Hello, I am MSgt Melvin Warren, Air Force Retired, and I am glad to have this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Iraq and all other war veterans for their service and sacrifices.

For your information, I have documented proof that the Defense Logistics Agency, Environmental Protection Agency, Air Force and numerous other Federal agencies are discriminating against veterans when it comes to job employment.

As a matter of principle, I am presently fighting on your behalf to do whatever it takes to legally put an end to their shameful practice of closing federal job announcement without making a selection when qualified veterans appear on the Certificate of Eligibles.

That federal government procedure is presently condoned by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as long the Federal agency selected no one for the opened job position.

Hopefully, with all due respect, our beloved President and the Commander in Chief will get seriously involved by not only directing federal agencies to hire more veterans but following-up by using veterans to ensure compliance with his directive to resolve the presently disgraceful hiring procedure going on within our Federal government. Especially, since we appear to have a group of ungrateful civilians with only high school diplomas within our Federal government who are continuously working to develop ways that counteract the hiring of qualified veterans.

Please feel free to email me at Warren45@aol.com if any question. God Bless you and yours!

Refusal to Hire Veterans

I have observed an alarming trend where numerous government agencies (i.e., Air Force, Army, CBP, DLA, EEOC, EPA, FAA, FDA, Navy, SSA, USBR) are NOT hiring anyone for job position posted over USAJOBS.gov, if there are eligible and qualified veterans. This appears to be done in order to avoid hiring eligible and qualified veterans. In addition, the U.S. OPM and U.S. EEOC condone this procedure as long as no one is selected for the vacancy and the announcement expires.

My latest encounters have been with:

1) the Federal Administration Administration for Job Announcement Number: AGL-FS-10-0041-16641, Aviation Safety Assistant (Office Automation), Pay Plan: FG-0303-6/5, Salary Range: 27,431.00- 30,577.00, Location: US-OH-Cincinnati OH: http://jobview.usajobs.gov/GetJob.aspx?JobID=86905677&TabNum=6;and

2) the Air Force for Job Announcement Number: AFPC 28676, Education Services Specialist, Pay Plan: GS1740-09, Salary Range: 46,625.00 – 60, 612.00 USD/year, Location: US-CA-Beale AFB.

However, I am more concerned for my fellow veterans who apply for jobs within government agencies. Therefore, in September 2010 I plan on going Washington, D.C. mainly for my comrades-in-arm to help get some kind of corrective action going. Presently, I am working on getting permits to march, protect, and/or picket in front of EEOC, OPM, and the House and Senate.

Veterans' Preference= #1 Federal Government sham!

Strongly suggest renaming Department of Labor (DOL) and/or our government rename "Veterans' Preference" to "Points for Veterans" since "Veterans' Preference" is very misleading and/or of little to no value.

Moreover, at this time NO government agency or government contractor gives qualified war veterans (i.e., Vietnam, Iraq, etc.) job hiring preference even after DOL Veterans' Employment & Training Service (VETS). Why? Answer: #1 Federal Government sham!

Yet many Americans say: “Thank you for your service.” But, many of us war veterans know that most people including federal agencies are not sincere.

P.S. "Keeping faith with those who serve must always be a core American value and a cornerstone of American patriotism. Because America's commitment to its servicemen and women begins at enlistment, and it must never end."
